You are
An Emerging Communicator

You can understand English, and you can write it, but speaking feels stressful and sometimes scary.

You prefer email or written communication, and you speak only when you really need to.

What this means for you

This probably sounds familiar:

  • You avoid speaking in English because you’re afraid you will not find the right words.

  • You worry you will sound unprofessional or make a mistake, so you keep your answers short.

  • You prefer international work by email, but avoid live calls or meetings.

  • When someone asks you a question suddenly, your brain freezes, even if you KNOW the answer.

  • You reject projects or meetings because you don’t feel ready to speak in English.

You are not alone!

Many HR professionals feel this way.

The problem is not grammar or a small vocabulary.

You will not feel confident after you learn 20, 50, 100 new expressions.

What is stopping you from using English as a tool at your work is the fear that your English will not be “good enough.”

This fear makes speaking much harder than it needs to be.

This might surprise you: Even experienced HR professionals who speak English every day sometimes freeze!

Simple and practical tips
to help you start speaking with more confidence

01

Use “pause phrases” to get a moment to think

You DON’T have to speak right away. Use these phrases to take a moment to calm yourself down:

  • “Let me think for a moment.”

  • “Give me a moment, please.”

  • “I need a moment to explain this clearly.”

It is OK to ask for a moment to think! Native speakers do it all the time. These phrases help you slow down and feel in control.

02

Calm your brain before speaking

When you feel nervous, try this:

  1. Breathe in for 3 seconds

  2. Breathe out for 4 seconds

  3. Say one short sentence first (see the tips below)

This calms your body and helps your brain find words again.

03

Prepare one short idea

Don’t try to say everything at once. You know the situation is complex, but confident communication requires a clear message.

Think: “What is the one thing I want to say?”

This makes your message clear and easier to say.

04

Use a short “starter sentence”

These universal short phrases help you begin speaking even when you feel nervous.

Examples:

  • “I’ll start with the main point.”

  • “Here is my view on this.”

This will help you focus and take the first step to start speaking.
